The last letter

The last letter

A Poem by Darby Rae

Remember my name, never let me go
Live with me in your heart
And let the time go
One day we'll be together
You just have to know
That I'll be with you forever
As you go on your way
From one day to the next
I want to be there to hold your hand
And say dear it's okay
But those days have left us
And I've never felt so sorry
To put you through the pain
I know it seems unfair
But it was meant to be this way
Don't fail on me now
You've got to find the strength
To carry my dreams for you
And I know you'll find a way
Be strong
Carry on
Don't cry over my grave
Let me be your drive
As you strive for a better life
Don't let me bring you down
I'm not telling you to forget me
Just to live with me in your heart
And then it won't be so hard
To be this far apart

You have a gift at conveying a scene that is embraced with sadness, at the same time it blossoms with a smooth flowing passion. I'm reminded to some of the powerful and great monologues from Shakespeare's female characters.

This piece speaks to me of perserverance and hope. We cry a tear at the distance, yet we are emboldened to hand on to the dream that one day two may be reunited. Even if in the times beyond the grave, the will to reconnect shines in your words.

Fantastic Ink!
