Forgotten daysA Poem by Darby Raeim depressing :pLay down your arms dear father And carry me to the fields of green Where we ran down as children All those years ago. Bring your familiar eyes That had gone from your face And the glitter around your smile Now left without a trace.
Help me, my fair mother, Comb my hair until its smooth like satin. Tie it in your old lace bows That you once cared so much for. Carry your white canvas Down the grassy hillside Shade your pallet with your valiant brush And color the sky like you did long ago. Walk beside me little brother And pick up your stones along the way. Share with me the items you have scavenged In the days when we were young. Fill your pockets With your trinkets and treasures. Hand me your modest gifts since now they lie in dust Dance with me big sister Twirl me around in our green pasture Jump around with your head held high Like you use to Tell me your stories from the days before god Read me the tales you create And bring the
light to my eyes Since they have now faded gray Come back lovley family Huddle around our old worn hearth share with me the things you love and all the things you don't please don't leave me with only a few sweet memories come back and join me here on earth and bring back the forgotten days © 2012 Darby RaeReviews
