My Tears

My Tears

A Poem by MeltingSnow

My Tears

Tears flow from an unbidden sadness
While time falls away in the small hours
When sleep is elusive and slippery.
Forgiveness surfaces and I embrace it
As I let go of pain so it no longer holds power
Realizing that this moment, now,
Is all there is, all there ever will be.

Has the universe absorbed my tears?
Do they fall as rain on some distant world?
Perhaps a fog, a mist, tangibly dense and sad
Settled, eternally permeating the ground
An echo of my pain?

Is there a grotto somewhere, sometime
That holds the tears shed of happiness
To wash away and cleanse
So the wounds no longer exist, '
Heal, so they can not be reopened
Forgiving others, forgiving myself

As I walk my path,
You are here beside me
You are an eternal mirror inside me
Reflecting the light of my spirit
Helping me shine more brightly
For everyone to see the love I feel.
