Rejection? Maybe.. Coming to an end is not uncommon to us all or at least it is as accepted as coming of age. It is painful. It could kill. But the effect depends on our intent upon the situation.
It would have been better if courage was like our biceps. Work hard at it and voila! You have a good body! Sadly, it's not as easy to acquire. Instead, it is something that a person develops over a period of time. There is something beautiful about it though- hope. Hope for anything good out of everything gloomy. And I think this is what you were trying to deliver and I like it.

Yes, hope. But also sheer anger and determination. If for no other reason than to spite or chap one's a*s. To win. To not be beaten. To be my own champion...

What can I say? I get tired of eating crow. Lol. And "eating crow" would insinuate a wrong doing .. read moreWhat can I say? I get tired of eating crow. Lol. And "eating crow" would insinuate a wrong doing on my part. Not the case here. However, I am left pinching, scraping, borrowing, and begging thanks to this person. Hence "eating beans again", which could be equated to the south and poverty.
I am always writing, but have not joined a writers' group since The Belle Haven when it was in existence. I loved it and really miss it. So when this site was recommended to me, I couldn't resist.
