They love you
As you appear untouched.
You resonate an innocence
Despite your experiences.
You smell like their favorite things -
One has said flowers,
Another...babies.
Your essence numbs the tongue like a drug,
And your presence is overwhelmingly
Stimulating and captivating.
Obviously strong,
Only the white in your hair
And switch in your gate
Prove your humanity.
You forget who you are,
What you are,
How many times you have lived;
What you are capable of.
Just be.
Do not attach.
For they all sense what you are...as they must...
As you want them to...as you need them to...
But thereby cannot keep you.
While not the love you desire,
You have known so much more
Than you are imagining.
