Your Soft Strength

Your Soft Strength

A Poem by Melobldnfr

10/13/15

Yesterday, you paused outside the grocery,
Closed your eyes,
And breathed in the sun.
There was peace in it, wonder,
Serenity, and surrender.
It was warming, as surely you were warmed
Despite a wounded gate.
You smiled against complaint -
Your lips upturned in the shimmering ray
As poignant as poppies.
I shivered, not wanting to stare,
But so glad to see.
It was the most beautiful, wondrous thing:
Your soft strength.
