Hide!

Hide!

No, I've no way of knowing well
The things you've hidden behind the swell:
What e'er caused rise the 'daunting'.
How I could possibly be compared to a feeling so haunting?
I suppose the acid test was out of hope -
Some absurd notion that if not love, cope?
I treated with care as to not resurrect
Any demons at bay, I showed ultimate respect.
I went nowhere that was uninvited -
From your home to your friend's who playfully chided.
You reached out.
You!
You fostered a charade -
A 'house warming' to be part of the Melinda parade.
All of your blocks, from misfortune to your cat,
To you having to ask a twenty year old where true love is at.
I thought it was I who'd been healing, a monster made,
But it was you sporting the ever-grande-proverbial-bandaid.
A cheap thrill, I suppose, I should get a glimpse inside.
So, you do that. You run away. Run away! Hide!

Okay, for a moment I stood with you beneath your cinder block umbrella: that healing the heart is not supposed to hurt. Hmm. To get results, one must push beyond initial pains, fears, and discomforts. If someone genuine makes you uncomfortable, then there is healing to be had. One must risk pain to overcome that of the past and current. A being can hide amongst 10 dozen friends, all the beer and cigarettes money can buy, all the 'good times' to be had, toasts 'til dawn, their body, abilities and disabilities, yet it is still hiding - like a person binging on an island of comfort food. It is hard to be friends with someone binging on an island for one. Even for a risk taker like me who you'd rather see as and call 'idealistic' and 'romantic'. Try 'Free Spirit'. -No envy. No fear.-
