Once Again

Be a friend if you must,

But I have lost trust.

It was a friend I mentioned betrayed me,

Not a lover.

He spoke for me when not his place

And wounded me unlike any other.

Tending said wound, I have learned

Trust is not to be given, but earned.

I'm not looking for new relations,

As I am still mending.

Acquaintances will due

Until I myself can once again be friendly.
