Knot

Knot

A Poem by Melobldnfr
"

An emotive day.

"

11/04/13

Yes, I get taken aback.

Why?

Because I get full of this tango with you.

We should be beyond it and on to the waltz.

I denounce cat-and-mouse.

I'm worn of the fending off of signs thrown at me

In bells and whistles and blaring bright red alarms -

Like your wanting to know what time

I'll be on my way 2 months from now,

Or adding how your phone malfunctioned

When I didn't ask,

Of chasing you - a stranger, a phantom

I once knew...

Of two steps forward and three steps back

(And you wonder why I don't listen to country).

Of showing you mine, but you not showing me yours.

And most of all:  of your continued fear -

The piece that takes the cake,

Indicating that while I am, you are still not ready.

You may want to be, but you just aren't.

I am pretty sure it no longer really matters why,

And there is nothing I can do.

I used to hold up my end of bargains

Despite the other party's forfeiture,

But no longer.

My truth, my eventuality,

Is supposed to feel "good to me".

You who've said this would not be

Worth doing again without me,

Continue bringing up marriage

And 3-year forecasts,

But have not one new song for me.

No, of course you're not

Stringing me along.
