What Is A Soulmate?

My Love recently asked this question. Having just watched EatPrayLove, I was inspired to answer...

Recently you asked me what is a soulmate,

Or how does one know?

 

A soulmate is someone with whom

You feel God.

The rest of the world can look at you

And see God in you

And about you with this person,

And it makes those who see this on you

Recognize God and want God.

 

A soulmate

Sees and recognizes things in you

Others take for granted,

Things that before

Only God and

Friends like family

Knew and understood about you.

 

Your soulmate

Looks at you

And sees what is truly there

Beyond your skin and face,

Though they love that too.

 

A soulmate

Falls in love with your insides,

And in that

Becomes more in love with your outsides

Every day.

 

A soulmate lets you cry.

A soulmate lets you breathe.

A soulmate lets you fly.

A soulmate gives you wings.

 

A soulmate understands

It is about nothing

And it is about

Everything...

 

Whose light you wear as a ring

That; once found, simply does not come off.

(And) No one can take it from you

Or steal it away.

This is a beautiful piece and more than answers the question. What caught my attention first though was the image you chose ... at first glance, a hazy reflection ... reflections that mirror the soul and can only reflect what is true. Of course, on closer inspection the photo is actually two people and I think that makes the picture even more perfect. Soulmates create the illusion of one ... mirror images ... "Whose light you wear as a ring" ... beautiful metaphor ... beautiful.

You've captured so much here, it deserves more attention ... but please accept my humble words that you have indeed said it all ... this is the soulmate we all seek.
