This Is A Play

This Is A Play

A Poem by Romello Simmons
"

This poem is about an old relationship. Where I had to live my life in a way my partner wanted me to live. Also describes being in an abusive relationship that is both emotional and physical.

"
Worthless worthless yell at me
Shake your fist...punch the wall
Caught you cheating overseas
He hit me like a cannonball

The pain I will not speak
Too violent...for my memory
"I love you" said on repeat
Lost my line...lost my script
I'm stuck in your movie scene

Silence forever don't hit the wall
Echoes of silence hit the hall
He let me slip and fall
Lost what I gain
The play was my pain
He couldn't be tamed
So let's continue the play

Violent memories
This pain I will not speak
One more slip he'll let me fall
Pain echo through the hall

He was my superstar
His anger was indescribable
He hit me like a cannonball
Am I okay
Living by your play

I had to really read it to understand this poem. I believe it was about an abusive boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife and something about a breakup and the pain the boy/girl is going through. That is what I'm assuming. Either way it was beautiful..
