The Day You Left

It takes my breath away when I remember what you said
But I don't know if it was real or just in my head

There are a few things I can't shake
And the past that won't break
And the feelings that are here
That make me shed a tear

I wish I could forget
But it doesn’t come easy
When he's all that you wanted
At the time that we parted

I miss him like crazy
Though I want to let go
It's hard for me to say this
But push goes to show

That you weren't ready
To test the distance
Instead you gave it away
Like it was out of existence

My smile doesn’t glow
The answers that I don’t know
My eyes don't show
The tears that I know

I wish he could read my mind
Because then he would see
There's more to the story
That I lead him to believe

I wish I could feel
The warmth of his skin
Or the touch on mine
Like the night of the flight

I watched you walk away
As I held in my hand
What could be
The last of the memory

Three years ago from today
Yet his love is still the deepest cut
There's nothing I wouldn't do for him
nothing I wouldn't say

To have it the way it was
2 weeks before we last saw each other
With no goodbye,
Anywhere in our story.
