The Pelican and the Ocean

The Pelican and the Ocean

A Poem by Melissa Kesead

The Pelican flew high and free

over the Ocean blue

the Pelican said “Any fish?”

the Ocean said “A few”

The Pelican dove straight and true

deep into the Ocean blue

back again as if on cue

with a fish of a reddish hue

Said the Ocean “Have your fill”

said the Pelican “Thanks, I will”

diving into waters still

holding fish tight in his bill

“Still hungry?” said the Ocean

my waters are quite stuffed

“Me too” said the Pelican

with feathers dried and fluffed

“See you at the break of day”

said Pelican as he flew away

“He never has too much to say”

said Ocean and went on his way

Very cute! The poem is very well rhymed, and the conversation between the ocean and the pelican is nicely done.

I love this, it's so cute! I can definitely see children delighting in this little tale. Very nice work!

Nice little children's story here with a lesson about the bounty of the sea.

Adorable! This should be in a little children's book or something like it. It kept me interested the whole way through. I loved the quick rhyme- well put together if I do say so myself! Thanks for sharing!
