The Butterfly and the Growing Tree

The Butterfly and the Growing Tree

A Poem by Melissa Kesead

A caterpillar stood still

Upon a green growing tree

It ate a leaf for dinner

And watched the turbulent sea

A chrysalis it did form

Upon a branch, soft and warm

Hung there in it’s tight cocoon

Underneath the sun and moon

The tree waited patiently

It had seen this once before

The birth of a butterfly

That flew near the shiny shore

It’s wings fluttered up and down

Beautiful blue, warmest brown

Landing on a growing tree

In it’s sight turbulent sea

I love the butterfiles that fly around my meadow. Brown is my favorite color!
