The Tree of Dreams

The Tree of Dreams

A Poem by Melissa Kesead

My friend had a tree

That gave carrots and corn

A fake Chinese lamp

And a buffalo horn

Gumballs and raisins

And a water balloon

A rocking horse toy

And a bright pink baboon

Apples and oranges

If you like plain ol’ fruit

Persimmon and guava

Or a shiny new flute

A beautiful tree

With limbs to the sky

To make dreams come true

Come on, won’t you try?
