Turtle Time

Turtle Time

A Poem by Melissa Kesead

With flippers like shovels

She digs out a nest

Deeper and deeper

For babies to rest

Risking discovery

Upon the still beach

She toils through the night

Beyond the seas reach

Never a pause

In her arduous chore

To keep her eggs safe

On that sand covered shore

Covered and cozy

Her deed is now done

She heads back to sea

With the rise of the sun

Very cute and sweet... a great little poem for kids to enjoy but also with a positive message that even adults can enjoy.

Reminds me of the Riddly sea turtles (I think that was their name) we used to hear about on the Texas gulf coast. An excellent poem with great rhymes, meter and message.
