Scooter and CrashA Poem by Melissa Kesead
Scooter and Crash were two pirates at sea But neither was very good at it you see Crash bumps and breaks almost everything he touches And Scooter likes to drive if he can get the wheel in his clutches They both were poor swordsman And their demeanor was dreary Their shooting…horrendous They made the captain quite weary But Scooter and Crash loved the wide-open water They should settle down, have a son or a daughter They didn’t fit in with the rest of the crew But being a pirate was all they knew how to do The ship landed on an island With palm trees galore Some crew took a boat And they rowed it ashore Scooter and Crash went through the trees What they saw there brought them to their knees A treasure mound, piled high and tall Diamonds and rubies, enough for them all Yippee, Yahoo, and Golly Gee Whiz The pirates all danced a new jig The sang a few songs, yo ho’d it up Then brought it all back to their rig The Captain, he praised them Commended and raised them From lowly men up to first mates Even got them a couple of dates Then Scooter and Crash Rich in pockets and hearts Became men of the world And they made fresh new starts They bought nice new houses Up near Trinidad way And the last that I heard They are there to this day Well that’s what they say (or their kids anyway) © 2009 Melissa Kesead |
