The Crook Took My Book

The Crook Took My Book

A Poem by Melissa Kesead

The Crook Took My Book

The crook took my book

I didn’t have time to look

I was learning how to cook

When he took it off the hook

I was making cherry pie you see

It was my favorite recipe

I had made such a mess of me

When the crook took the book from the hook

I chased him down a one-way street

My feet were slow, his feet were fleet

I thought that he might have me beat

Then the book fell from the crooks crook

He fled the busy sidewalk then

I bet we won’t see him again

I went back home, feeling a hundred and ten

And put my cook book back on the hook

Can you smell that cherry pie?

Great work, yet again. I love your style of children's poems.

ROTFLMAO . . . . cute rhyme. I had a nice giggle from it! Thank you for sharing.

This is just brilliant. The title grabbed my attention, and then the first stanza had me hooked.

"Then the book fell from the crooks crook" That's my favorite line.
