The Girl Who Didn't Like School

The Girl Who Didn't Like School

A Poem by Melissa Kesead

The Girl Who Didn’t Like School

Her name was MaryAnne

And she thought she was cool

She didn’t like sports

And she didn’t like school

She thought books were dumb

And science was for nerds

That playgrounds were for babies

And art class for the birds

She never paid attention

Her homework wasn’t done

She played video games

Until the setting of the sun

No one could persuade her

Everyone had tried

She didn’t pay attention

Then her pet goldfish died

She couldn’t read the label

She fed him too much food

It was a rude awakening

Abrupt and rather crude

MaryAnne cried a bit

Sitting on her stool

Then dried her eyes, smiled

Got up and went to school

Excellent write! I loved the moral, at the end, where you used such a common event such as the passing of a gold fish- but related it to school.
I really enjoyed this!
