They Need YouA Poem by Melissa KeseadThey Need You
When I see the children's faces On the dry and dusty streets When I see their stomachs bloated And their bones devoid of meat When I listen to the television Saying lives were lost When I hear the evening news Talking of a holocaust When I smell the smoking fires As the crops begin to burn When I taste the salt of flowing tears My heart begins to yearn Something must be done, someone must be saved Instead of money being spent on roads that must be paved No one can be heartless, nothing can be lost On buying life for families,Not groceries at cost When I feel the pain of thousands Whose homes are lost in flood When I think of victims dying Because no one will give blood When I tremble at the thought That people everywhere are killed When I see the pain filled faces Of those whose blood has spilled When I hear the garbled speeches Of all those who can't read When I listen to the crying My heart goes to those who need No one can be heartless, something must be done If people think it's over, our fight has just begun Nothing can be lost, someone must be saved Money must be spent on life, not roads to be paved Everyone must listen, everyone must care T hink of all the love that's missed by children lost out there Anyone can help them, anyone can try If people don't start caring, families may die © 2009 Melissa KeseadReviews
