Growing Up Just Right II

Growing Up Just Right II

A Poem by Melissa Kesead

Gleeful giggles echo

through drifts of snow

that children form in hollows

to escape the winds that blow

Mounds turn into castles

to defend against the war

and snowmen into wizards

rotten to the core

Children become Eskimos

and build their igloo homoe

the backyard becomes tundra

to defend, to hunt, to roam

Your house becomes a refuge

as day turns into night

to live throughout the winter

growing up just right
