The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth?

The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth?

A Poem by Melissa Kesead

Sobbing heard in the dark

only a spark of life is left

in the broken body

Garbage infested with rats

bums in holey hats seek warmth

from cardboard boxes

Young boys pushing what they can

on men who are rich or poor,

women and children

Girls raped in open lots

by teens on dots of acide

gotten for pocket change

Babies die from lack of food

while tons of crude oil coats

a nearby beach

The meek shall inherit the earth?
