Whisked AwayA Poem by Melissa KeseadA ball bounces across the floor the child follows it makes it's way out through the door and disappears
A favorite doll is grasped to cuddle from the sandbox it's face is streaked from a puddle with muddy tears
The child wanders down the street looking for toys the patter of tiny feet is barely heard
A dog barks down the block a new distraction the child giggles and kicks a rock chasing a small bird
Far, far away from home already lost forgotten like a broken comb tossed away
A car turns close by a field and follows the man behind the wheel dirty and gray
He slows, stops the car and emerges the light from a bar shines down
Up suddenly the child is swept whisked away all that is left is a muddy clown © 2009 Melissa KeseadReviews
