North Star

North Star

A Poem by MelissaAndres
"

Poem about life's direction.

"

Everything happens for a reason
Our lives are all mapped out
But how do we arrive?
What's the journey all about?

There is no signage
Placed along the way
Yet we need direction
To get us through the day.

You are my shiny compass
And my guiding light
Beckoning unto me
In the darkest night.

You are my North Star
My South, East and West
Now that I have found you
My heart and soul can rest.

Very sweet and touching.

I've spent years sailing the sea, and my role was that of a Navigator. That's right, Maps, Binoculars and Starlight.

I can't even begin to express my adoration to that precious north star and what it has done for the sailors of old, but this poem isn't really about -the- north star. Moreso our own personal 'North Stars'. To some of us it could be our dreams, to others it could be a special someone, perhaps even someone who is no longer among the living.

This poem is great, sent me packing into the depths of my mind.
Thanks.

Oh I love how this poem speaks so much about destiny and love. I believe we're meant to find the love of our lives. Its all a part of a bigger plan. I love the last stamza in particular. A very contended, peaceful ending. Keep writing. X

Hello, Melissa,
Thank you for commenting on my posting.
I, too, prefer to view us as having more autonomy in how our lives unfold, but you do touch on that which is the case for most - that we really do not get through things solely on our own, that we do benefit from the assistance of others. We also are better able to sustain our efforts through the beliefs we hold. I appreciate that you permitted the reader to interpret that for her/him self.

This is a really good poem i love how it feels like the rhyming is not tightly fit, I feel like it just came naturally to your mind which is outstandingly amazing. Keep on writing and inspiring!

I have always disagreed with your first line. I don't believe its all fated. I like to think we promulgate our own futurity's fatidic. Free will is my guiding light!!

Hi Melissa and thank you for commenting on my poem Comatose.
I like the effortless flow of this poem and you certainly have rhyming skills aplenty.
The poem is a delightful homage to the one who helps in times of trials and tribulation.
I also liked the way the last word is rest - creating a natural ending for the reader.
Nice writing :)
