Short poem about Christianity and imagining that fateful day.
The cross was made of wood
From a fallen tree
And a special man
Hanged there just for me.
I, of course, was not there
On that fateful day
He became my Savior
The ultimate price He'd pay.
But what if I had watched?
Had stood under that tree?
Would I have cried and screamed?
Or maybe hit my knees?
Could I have stopped the scene?
Would I have even tried?
Could I have known ...
Jesus was meant to die?
Tell others it's not just gifts
Christians, take a stand
Imagine being under the tree
Hand in hand in hand ...
Jesus was a noble and righteous man ... In those ancient times in the land of Isra'el any man who kept and obeyed the Torah (Law), as a righteous man, was openly referred to as being a son of God, just as in the state of Texas, those historical figures who were adamantly loyal to Texas during its struggling years as a territory in rebellion from Mexico, to then become a new born nation, are openly referred to by historians today as being sons of Texas ... Obviously, these men were not Texas, but did represent the very best of what Texas was and what Texas should always remain as being ... Jesus was a fine representation of the Character and Personification of who and what God is, and shall always remain as being, as were, also, many other righteous men in the land of Israel in those ancient times ... They were all referred to as sons of God, but not a one of them was actually God, no more than the sons of Texas were ever actually Texas ... All these men were simply those who represented the very best of what and who they loved ... Your heart has penned a pleasantly delightful little poem that reads well, and flows smoothly ... A small Jewel to decorate Christian hearts during this time of year and Christmas cheer ... Well done ...
That actually made me think, even though I'm not really a believer. Great job on that!
I liked the flow in this poem. The sentences were just the right length.
Keep on the good work!

This is a beautiful write Melissa. To imagine being there... you addressed the confusion in feelings perfectly. What would we do? Weep besides him? Go belligerent and try to change what was about to happen. He did it for us but how many of us would do it for him or for anyone in that case? I love reading a write that sparks thought and you did a great job of that! Great work :)

I liked reading this. I am thankful no one stopped it though, not because I am cruel but without His sacrifice our sins would not be washed clean. However, the questions do pass through our minds, what would we do if we witnessed it. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your kind comments!

a personal point of view of one of the most famous stories of our time...you wear your faith well and everyone questions... I often wonder what the disciples were thinking that night between crucifixion and the ascension as they sat in the upper room...well-done, Melissa
