A poem about a rebel who does everything short of breaking the law until ... one day ...
I'm known as a rebel
Don't follow nobody's rule
Living life on the edge
Makes me really cool.
I laughed at the preacher
Who tried to save my soul
And all of those teachers
Who said I needed goals.
Quit half a dozen jobs
For some reason or another
Even broke the heart
Of my poor angelic mother.
Never did anything illegal
Until that fateful day
Whatever can go wrong will
At least that's what they say.
Took my buddy to the bank
But in the car I stayed
Had no earthly idea
I'd be driving get-away!
Ended up running out of gas
With cops fast on our tail
I now ponder my rebel life
As I sit here in this jail.
We all know right from wrong
And we do all have our flaws
May the only thing you break
Be ol' Murphy's Law!
I took away from your piece that there may be a greater price to pay for nonconformity - pondering a rebel life sitting in jail. Perhaps there is something to that but then, too, there have been those who have found greater personal satisfaction and success by breaking the rules. Always interesting to consider - action and consequence.

Even when harmless little pranks are committed, things tend to catch up with them in the end! I just sat and wrote this funny little thing one day .. part of my mischievous side I suppose. Haha!

Tis quirky, tis fun.. and also, has its serious side which makes this reader pause. To wrap fact with a smile is quite an achievement, makes a moral seem more like a merriment and that's what 'we' remember and nod heads at.. in agreement!

Yep. They taught us about Murphy's law in the Navy, and it's something one should always keep in mind, especially if you intend to rob a bank. A fun poem, Melissa.

Once, when I was about 12 I guess, I was riding my bicycle in my neighborhood up and down in front of a boy's house that I had a crush on. He came into his driveway and BLAM ... down I went! I still have a small scare on my chin to prove it. I was so embarrassed! He came over, picked me up and walked my bicycle home as I limped along beside. I will never forget that horrible day!
Ha ha, I like a poem with a story! Shame the person got arrested when he/she wasn't actually intending to break the law. I guess the moral is - always have a full tank of gas, just in case!
