Adoption is both a beautiful and heartbreaking decision. I admire people who make the decision to go through the process, from both sides. It's sad when your family is on the giving end. A beautiful heartfelt poem for this baby girl. I hope she stumbles across it when she's older and know she is loved by both families.

I think adoption is a wonderful thing for those who cannot have children. It is heart-wrenching for the birth mother and also for the rest of the family as well ... even though they know they are doing the right thing. I am thankful for the adoptive family who has raised her.

So sad. Melissa, I truly feel your pain. My oldest sister gave away her newborn baby girl in 1958. This after the baby's father begged her to marry him. Why? Almost sixty years later, I still wonder where she is. It's a tragedy.

My sister got a letter and a picture from her daughter right after the "baby" turned 16. It had to go through the adoption agency and then they sent it to her home address. We think it was a mistake though because there was supposed to be no contact until after the age of 18. (At least that is my understanding). I have a copy of the picture. She is a really pretty girl. That was several years ago. Anyway, we know, at the time, she lives somewhere in Texas and has an older, also adopted brother. I had a lot of guilt during the whole process but I believe it was all for the best. Odd that your oldest sister and my youngest sister actually gave up baby girls.
Hi! My name's Melissa and I love to read and write! I am married to a wonderful guy named Mark and have a grown son and step-son and five beautiful grandchildren. I no longer work outside the home .. more..
