Little Soul

Little Soul

A Poem by Melissa Lottering
"

The short life of a butterfly and how they do not stop to mourn it

"

Little Soul

A lazy lap around the languishing azalea

When

            Suddenly spiraling skywards

                                    Flit

                        Flit

            Flit you down to earth

A crazy dance about my head

Three more hours of daylight left

Assemblé from Amaryllis to Anemone

Then

            Tumbling twirl towards me

                                    Drop

                        Drop

Drop you down to earth

A slow waltz about my face

The sun is setting on your Grace

The beds are brimming buds and blooms

You

            Savour, sip, scent,

                                    Drink

                        Drink

            Drink you every last drop

You never stop to think

Your life is on the brink

Author's Note

Melissa Lottering
I had to write a poem experimenting with sound. Does it seem too sentimental?
