Atlantic

Atlantic

A Poem by Melissa Kester

What a beauty she is
And how deep does she go
What life dwells within
I suppose we'll never know
Was there ever a time
When the lands were not divided
When the coastlines could meet
And be ever unguided
Was there a tragedy that struck
And separated two lovers
Or were they forcibly pulled apart
By the unyielding earthen mother
No one may know
The truth if their pasts
But the shorelines hide secrets
Of a love that long lasts
With the ever moving cycles
And the changes sure to come
Will ever these coastal lovers
Be joined again as one
They may continue to reach
And cause her to be frantic
They will take on the siege
Of the Northern Atlantic
