Maybe You Should Know

Maybe You Should Know

A Poem by Melissa Kester

I know I shouldn't feel this way.
But I can't stop it any more than I can stop the light of day.

I know I should say these words.
But you make me feel like I could fly with the birds.

I know I shouldn't think of this.
But all I want are your lips to kiss.

I know I shouldn't have these dreams.
But in the night while I sleep, you give me wings.

I know I shouldn't want you here.
But this distance between us has me drenched in my tears.

I know I shouldn't speak this truth.
But here I am, my heart and soul laid bare, and I'm in love with you.
