Starlight

Starlight

A Poem by Melissa Kester

Only on the surface
Does the sun block your light
But even in the darkness
You shine ever bright
Your light will never fade
Even in eternal night
Which is why I choose you
To be my guiding light

I do not choose the sun
That blinds all who try
That which tries to outshine
And always leaves the sky

I do not choose the moon
That ebbs and ever changes
That which is not constant
And is always in new phases

But I will choose you, my star
As your constant light will shine
That which leads me home
And always will be mine

this is a very emotional poem and i like how the sun and star interrelate and interconnect with each other

Very touching, Melissa. Strong imagery. Your choice of life's beacon proves that guiding lights don't have to be glaring or glamorous to keep us oriented toward our destination. Too often the brightest or popular choices tend to reflect more upon themselves than upon the path we chose. The North Star has guided humankind through the ages, and it is a mere point of light. Keep following your star. Nice tribute.
