In The Stillness of AbsenceA Poem by Melissa Kester
In the absence of beating
The silence dimly echoes The stillness stirs no life The demon in me bellows In the absence of thought Light begins to fade A blanket settles over Of darkness, it is made In the absence of company Loneliness calls me home The vastness invites me in In emptiness I shall roam In the absence of time and space Existence ceases all Always, I'll be lost Forever, Will I fall In the absence of you Life has been lost Death is surely better Than this glorious, dreadful cost © 2017 Melissa KesterReviews
