My Dearest Love

My Dearest Love

A Poem by Melissa Kester

My dearest love...
Where have you gone?
Why have you left me here all alone?

My dearest love...
What is this to you?
What is your truth?
Do you intend to stay?
Or is this just for play?

My dearest love...
You have my heart.
You have my soul.
My world is yours.
And my life unfolds.
You make me sing.
You make me smile.
You make me drown in my denial.

My dearest love...
My skin aches for the flames of your touch.
My heart soars because I love you so much.
My soul melts when I look in your eyes.
But when you leave me my whole world dies.

My dearest love...
I love looking into your deep dark eyes - I could fall into them forever.
I love when strands of your hair fall in front of your face - it's sexier than ever.
I love that gorgeous smile you have - the way you light up infects me.
I love your laugh, your air, your everything - I just always need you next to me.

My dearest love...
I can't help but feel that this is too good to last.
I can't help but remember our past.
When it finally seems that we might have a chance....
Everything changes and you leave without a glance.

My dearest love...
This piece is for you, though it be inadequate.
No words could come close to explaining how my soul sings for you.
You are my king of kings, my warrior, my knight.
I want to be your queen of queens, your goddess, your bride.

You make me feel so very much alive.
But, my dearest love, if you leave me again, I won't survive.

This poem reminds me a little bit of one of my own pieces called"left me there". I loved it a lot... Just beautiful!

I have to admit, this is damn good for a relatively simple love poem. The structure is nearly perfect, it flows pretty well and the ending is sublime.

I would love it even more if it had a darker overall mood to it.
