Prologue---Burn With MeA Chapter by MelanieAnnFor interaction, you can also read it here:And now dear friends, you ask, what are Shifters? I'm here to tell you
not to mess around with Shifters. See, they live in a world all on their
own, stretching from the borders of Hungary to the Mermaid Trellis
Ocean, in the Fae strewn forests with grumpy trolls and fat little
goblins willing to cook your eyeballs for supper if you don't answer
their riddle right, (which they sing in a song from their scratchy
phlegm coated throats, thank you very much), against the crags pressed
up through the ocean that hold sleeping dragons with their wings tucked
into their broad, scale-plated chests and anger beating through their
chests. But you're still asking, what is this thing that has seven letters and starts with an S? They have the power to produce fire, water, or earthy substances from their hands. But don't fret; Oh, please don't
fret. Most Shifters aren't going to set fire to your house or drown you
in a barrel or tie you up with vines; nah, they're not that bad.
It's sort of like how most Normals, people like us with no Shifter
powers whatsoever, are good. But there are those idiots that choose to
rob banks. All Shifters--every single last one of them, are born with one power. Either Fire. Or water. Or Earth. You simply don't get three. Then why do some very, very rare Shifters get three powers? Three; as in fire, water, and earth. I can't answer that. It's not because
they're "special," or that they're "the only ones that can defeat some
weird evil person." It's probably because in every line of blood,
there's always that one weird DNA mess up. A mutation, if you will. These people are called Timepieces. They can also be
transferred. Shifters can transfer their powers to their children or
dear loved ones, which is how one of the most famous Timepieces out
there got to be a Timepiece in the first place. But let's not delve deep
into her just yet...our story doesn't start with her; heck, she wasn't
even born yet. It starts with Alec, one of the most infamous Timepieces of all time. Alec is...special. Yes,
he's a Timepiece; a very different one indeed. No one knows how his
powers came to be; a sliver or luck or chance of it there's something in between---allow it to be in between. He has Storm powers; all three of them. Thunder, lightning, and air. The Bloom--our beloved
Shifter government--doesn't think too highly of Storm Timepieces. They
believe that Shifters are only supposed to have one power, nonetheless storm powers.
No one ever has storm powers! It was an outrage when they heard that
such a thing existed! They want to rip Alec apart and tear his family up
into shreds. Alec definitely won't go down without a fight. He hates the Bloom and all of it's flaws. Well, now you know about Shifters. You know about Timepieces and Storm Timepieces and the Bloom's hatred against them. You know about Alec, what sort of powers he has and why in which we can't really say why, can we? All I have left to say is, get ready for Alec's story Ladies and Gentlemen, because it'll be a rough one. © 2016 MelanieAnn |
