He'd give me the Sunshine..

He'd give me the Sunshine..

A Poem by Juanita John

What is this feeling that I feel this morn

As the sunbeams dance on my eyelids

The same ones that cried all dusk

From where comes this soothing calm..

And He said, welcome to the sunshine,

doesn't mean there ain't gonna be no rain

welcome to the sunshine

coz behind every rainbow there is a story of pain

If it wasn't for the endless toil

I'd never have known Your love

If it wasn't for the thorny paths

I'd never have developed the callus

If it wasn't for the loneliness

I'd never have found Your companionship

So for all that that happened

I can only sing You a song that I can

And He said, welcome to the sunshine,

doesn't mean there ain't gonna be no rain

welcome to the sunshine

coz behind every rainbow there is a story of pain

Let me not doubt the tables set for me

Let me not be relentless of the past

only by Your strength I can let go

else I'll clutch on to it like harbor

though the pain and tears are very real

let me know that Your joy is just as much

Sometimes joy feels alien

Feels like I've never felt it

Sometimes joy feels distant

Feels like its not meant for me

But He said, welcome to the sunshine,

doesn't mean there ain't gonna be no rain

welcome to the sunshine

coz behind every rainbow there is a story of pain

So Let me wait on You

To guide me on the paths; thorny or green

So let me just let You

To mould  me the way You want to

And I'd sing, thank you for the sunshine

doesn't mean I'd never want no rain

Thank you for the sunshine

coz behind every rainbow there is a story of pain
