Thiefs and CavesA Chapter by Spectra NoxThe tunnel was deep, I can say that for sure. The further it went, the more earthy and dirt like it began, even giving the smell of damp earth from rain.
Other things appeared, not the gorund, but maps hung on the walls, secured by single pegs. Cupboards appeared, but I couldn't see anything in them, so I reached my hand out in search of something to hold.
It was dusty, yet slimy, it had a strange orange puree in it, but when I blew at the container, a volley of dust hit my eyes. I coughed slightly, smelling the awful smell of old and gross orange marmalade mingled with old dust that had clung to the bottle so desperately.
And yet no ending to this deep well. I swiftly threw the bottle back into the shelf. If I had of let it drop, someone underneath could get hurt.
"Hmmm. This hole is so deep, the centre of the earth must near soon! What the hell is the latitude and longitude of this place? Hehe, latitude, what a funny name!" I said, my voice rippling off the sides of the walls.
I could feel the hair on my head becoming thicker, yet also painfully pulling up.
"When I land, I shall ask them where I am. I'm probably in England or France now, I will curtesy like a lady and ask 'Ma'am, Where the devil am I?' And I'd probably courtesy too" I mused to myself. She'd think me weird I thought.
There was nothing to do except just talk to myself. What an idiot. THUMP! THUMP! Thump! I had landed on a pile of leaves and twigs.
Even though it was a long drop, it didn't really hurt, I think I might've gotten dirt on my dress but that's about it.
Wait a sec. My Dress?
I looked down, only to jump in fright. What was I wearing?
It was a milky blue dress, very frilly at that. It had puffy sleeves that didn't go past my shoulders. It was knee length and had a very lacy-style apron that had a card suit design along the bottom, with a little pocket stitched in the front.
I grabbed my hair in frustration, only to feel even worse. My hair was in short ringlets with a bow on my fringe. I couldn't see it, but I could feel the silky ribbon in my soft, bouncy hair
Oh my god. Oh my god.
And where was that hooker lady? She stole my pocket watch. I clenched my fist at the thought of her. She dressed in that disqusting velvet red corset.
But if I hadn't been so preoccupied in my dress, I would've noticed the room.
The room was big, like the entrance to a theatre. I could see the sway of the hooker lady's hair, and so I ran after her, almost instantly colliding with the ground, due to large, shiny black boots.
"It's getting so late!" her voice whispered from the distance.
I stumbled but got up and chased after her voice. When the echo left, I pulled at my hair and screamed. She'd got me here. I was fine! She had ruined everything!
But movement in the corner of my eye made me twitch. I turned, all tense and prepared, only to face a long hall, filled with lamps hanging off the roof, swaying in the non-existant wind.
I hesitated slightly, but shrugged and followed the path, listening to the clops of my heels clicking the ground.
Suddenly, a round room appeared in the end, with three doors, all different sizes.
I stamped my foot in frustration. How was I supposed to open them?
I walked forward, heading towards the middle door, when something shattered. I had stepped on something.
I looked down only to see a small glass table, broken and glass shattered.
In the debris, a little gold object glittered in the dim light. I leant down and picked it up. A small key, yet too small to fit any of these locks.
I groaned, this wasn't very easy for me. In an angry attempt to rip off the velvet curtain nearby, a door was revealed.
I knelt down at the door, it was very short and only came to my knee. The key probably would fit this door!''
As I shoved the small yet firm key into the lock, I twisted it slowly. The door swung open.
"Yes!" I shouted, pumping my fist. But peering into the room, I noticed it actually was a very small hallway.
Another dirty tunnel.
I grumbled before kneeling down and crawling through the muddy floor.
But at the other end, I spied a garden. Like one of James Cameron's Avatar. It had wild flowers and glistening fountains. As I reached to cling at the warm feeling, I noticed that the door into the garden, was shaped like a key lock, and there was no way for me to fit my head in there.
I tried several times, it must have been at least 5 minutes until I realised I can't get in. I shrugged my shoulders, What could I do? And I slowly crawled back through the tunnel.
At the other side, the one I had come from, I gasped in shock.
The little glass table no longer lay broken, it standed still and carried something glinting in the light.
Something purple.
I walked forward and leaned down to look. It was just a little glass vial, with a purple substance.
I cringed my nose, "Eww, It's probably nasty or something" I told myself.
But the drink had a little note attatched to it, tied brilliantly around the vial. It was a little note that spelt "DRINK ME", in beautiful calligraphy.
"I hope it's not poison" I murmered, picking up the tiny vial.
As I skulled it, I noticed it had a blended flavour, a sort of mixed flavour of cherry- tart, custard, pine-apple, roast turkey, toffee, and hot buttered toast.
It gave me a warm fuzzy feeling, like the one you get when you're drunk. © 2013 Spectra Nox |
