Insensitive Gerbil

sometimes I feel just like a gerbil, running around & around on his wheel!

I'm a gerbil who's insensitive,
& whose color is black and white.

I am fearful of leaving my wheel because,
of my strewn about keepsakes, doodads, and whatchamacallits.

I live my life by running on my wheel,
until I am breathless,
that I think I might be dead.

I watch, from my home, The Exorcist,
and then I run like hell,
until I need water to assuage my throat.

I can move freely,
without the need of this wheel.
I don't need these keepsakes!

I'm an insensitive gerbil,
who loves to run!

i like the metaphor. perhaps it has to do with people glued their techie gadgets and toys, that begin to control their lives. it's good the gerbil realized he didn't need the keepsakes. very nice poem.
