Magic Doesn't Exist(Preposturous)

Magic Doesn't Exist(Preposturous)

A Poem by C.J. Ravenheart
"

something I wrote in january 2012

"

Verse 1:

I have been walking/ in my dreams a thousand times/ just to find a/ reason to fight and die for/ I’ve been searching in my/ head so long/ I’ve been told since/ I was young/ that magic never/ existed/ and that nothing is more real than/ hard work and accomplishment/ but I never believed/ what they had to say.

            Pre-chorus:

This building in/ my rapidly beating chest/ is telling me/ that its time to/ fight for what I believe!

Chorus:

And/ this is why I exist/ just to find a way to/ find the place/ where I belong/ its so tiring/ of listening to all of/ this bullshit/ its stupid/ to think that/ magic just cannot exist.

Verse 2:

Seeing all/ the pain and suffering/ it tells me to STOP! (pause)/ (starts up again) thinking about/ what my dad had told me/ all those years ago/ I’ve been trying to pick up the pieces/ of my broken heart!

            Pre-chorus:

And the pounding in my/ head repeatedly drumming/ pushing me to the brink/ of disbelief/ but where shall I go!

Chorus:

And/ this is why I exist/ just to find a way to/ find the place/ where I belong/ its so tiring/ of listening to all of/ this bullshit/ its stupid/ to think that/ magic just cannot exist.

And/ this is why I exist/ just to find a way to/ find the place/ where I belong/ its so tiring/ of listening to all of/ this bullshit/ its stupid/ to think that/ magic just cannot exist.

Bridge:

But out of the corner of my eye/ I see and realize/ that I’ve found where I belong/ and now I’m happier/ than ever before/ to the point of/ breaking down in/ tears of happiness.

Finding home/ was my reason for/ living and striving for/ but now that I’ve found/ the place where I belong/ I’ve discovered a new reason/ to live and fight for/ and the reason that I pined for/ was standing right before my eyes/ but I was to blind/ to see it/ and barely made/ my train in time!.

this is a beautiful ballad. a journey to find a place of belonging and the magic that one believes in. i know what it's like to find my place in all this...and i'm still searching, but at least at the end you realize what you were looking for was right in front of your eyes and caught it just in time. excellent poem, unique form.
