Narcissa Stories Chapter 3: Narcissa and The Familiar Wanderer - Part 1 of 3A Chapter by C.J. RavenheartAfter leaving my past behind in that burning animal machina, I came across a nomad, like myself. Except, the most unusual feature was not his thin frame, nor his ragged face, but it was that he was not wearing the usual gas mask. I had heard rumors of individuals who had mutated after the Ragnarok, but to this extent…I had never seen. The man. He was walking right towards me. The old me would have been scared. However, that was then. This is now. I stood my ground as he walked towards me. He stopped. Right in front of me. And he did the most unusual thing. He spoke, in this deeply sweet voice. He asked me a question. His question was this: “Are you Narcissa. The girl who slaughtered the masses at Birdenhop?”
Shock. Its as numbing as fear. And painful, as a thousand knives. Delving into your chest. I hesitated to answer his question. Fear was starting to cause my body to tremble before him. He watched me, with this unusual smile. He said to me that he knew who I was, and my reputation. I couldn’t stop trembling. He changed his tone of voice, and told me that it was okay. And to calm down. The fear and shock started to disappear.
As I calmed down. And regained my composure. I asked him how he knew me. He responded by saying that he was the so-called “Demon of Birdenhop”. He continued on by telling me all sorts of things. Like how he was falsely accused of being guilty of crimes he didn’t commit, and so on. I stood there. Talking to this strange person.
I looked at the zirconium electric watch. Standard issue to former military and Special forces. I told the man, that I had to leave. He stood there. He seemed to be confused by what I had said. I started to go around him when I noticed that he had taken off his ragged clothes, to reveal a suit, and tie. His face, completely different from before…and recognizable.
I stood there. Behind the man. In complete shock. I knew him. He stood there. His face had a set of scars underneath his eyes. He turned around and said to me. “Hello Narcissa. Its been quite some time…sweetie.” My calm and composed mind shattered as I looked at his face. Fear rushed over me. I didn’t know what to do.
The man. Now familiar to my eyes. I remembered…to a time long gone. Forgotten in the flam of a burning animal machina. Now gone forever. My past. The memories that I thought were long gone. Returned. And my mind started to break in two. I tried to forget…HIM. The man who I had at one time, admired. I fell onto the ground. Curled up in the fetal position. My mind trying to gather my head around how HE is here. I thought to myself…”What is going to happen to me now that HE has returned?” © 2012 C.J. Ravenheart |
