Ocean Memories

Ocean Memories

A Poem by Mel Jayne
"

A girl thinks about her life and the ocean.

"
She followed her friend into the water,
It was clear and beautiful,
They were surrounded by people,
In the ocean.

She had fallen in love once before,
He had been there,
On the beach with laughter.
They would fall into the water together.

The water was different now.
He was gone.
The water was shallow,
Further out it would be too dangerous.
The creatures would be mad at anyone
That came to disturb them.

Her mother worked
To make people understand
The importance of the ocean.
If they did not listen
They would risk everything.

The land and sea held importance
beyond anything they knew.
The island was lonely without the boy,
without the fish,
without safety.

Broken but still determine.
The character from a broken relationship still visits their loveing site where love was anew for reflection.
