DriftingA Poem by Mélania WoolfYour gaze I remember so well Your eyes closing each moment Those thoughts
that separate us And that we
won’t share, never Even when dreaming. Directly fixed toward the oceans, O Beautiful speechless eyes; That gaze … A child’s race Or just a life
you’re hiding? The shiver in your silence That injures my voice, I suffer. I so much want to learn; To whisper like the breeze Upon your
yielding expressions, To weaken the black away, To make the time disappear, And break the clouds. You … Rarely speaking Yet when you quietly do, Just for you and me It’s only little nothings Stolen from your roving breaths. But there, distantly,
You’re drifting Ceaselessly In the profound
waters, Somewhere … You’re drifting so you don’t break And let your wounds show But here, it’s already a night. And I, waiting on a bridge, I’m weak and alone, as often I, craving nothing but your voice, Seek the rest of what was you A stranger, maybe more … Slight spot on the horizon You are no longer drifting in your head... You are gone.
