Ice Cold

Ice Cold

A Poem by Mel 10360

Ice cold hands grab ahold of me

Steeling my spine against past reality

Making me seethe with an intensity

Of hate only he could muster.

Remembering the acts of monstrosity

Flashing back to the fear and insanity

Dooming the child to a mentality

Of a worthlessness belonging to just her.

Helplessness, fear, and insecurity

All these long years lived in secrecy

He’s doing it to others when we can’t see

Not vengeance, but justice floods my sight.

No more childhoods thrown away

No more mothers led astray

No more monsters here to stay

And the weapon itself does what’s right.

Honestly? Kind of like Mary Poppins..."practically perfect in every way"! I love the way you sew your words together to create an emotional piece. Very well done!

I love the way it's written and how it flows from one verse to another.
The last verse is my favourite it finishes off the poem nicely.
