The Terminal Beginning

The Terminal Beginning

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks

The initial ending

concluded the birth

of the terminal beginning.

But what is it worth?

Is there something we're winning?

Or why on this Earth

are we all still surviving?

Quite a nihilistic piece -- and I mean that in a good way. There is that theory that as soon as we are born we begin to die. I've often wondered whether or not there is anything on this planet of true intrinsic value or if we're all simply biding time. This was a very thought provoking piece wrapped into a tiny package. Well done.
