Irish Green

Irish Green

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks

With some Irish Spring, I lather well.

Green Apple shampoo, I love the smell.

Whistle clean now, I hang my green rag.

I wear my lime shirt and jeans with green tag.

In my hunter green truck I drive off to work.

Irish cream in my coffee, for a nice perk.

Her emerald eyes greet me at the door.

She says to me, "Why all the green for?"

I try to think of something Irish to say.

Then she says, "St. Patrick's was yesterday."

Instead of "Why all the green for?" I'd suggest "What's all the green for?" I think it still flows with your poem - and it makes more sense. Did you mean to type "what's"?

Charming and very funny - You should try making some of these into e-cards, if you want to. I think you might even be able to sell them and promote your work. (some people are insulted when I suggest this, no idea why, but please don't be mad)

Thanks for sharing, it made me smile :D

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to you. This is such a cute (hmm, never called a peice of writing cute before.) peice. I love the little peice of humor at the end. Great. Actually, funny thing is, I forgot today was St. Patrick's Day and didn't realize until it was too late to go home and change. *sigh* Oh well, love this peice. Good job dear.

How refreshingly beautiful! Awesome ending here that made me smile. It seemed like a case of forgetfulness here. Although, around the globe when people get drinking, they won't know what day it is later. haha. Very entertaining. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

That was cool! I liked the rhyme and all the green. To bad it was a day late! :)
Great poem!

I really got the irish vibe off of this one.
Imagined a leprechaun reading it to me.
I'd consider changing the color of the 3rd+4th lines - definitely irish, but too bright for me eyes :)
Great rhyming, mood and what not.
Happy St. Patrick's day!

Cute! Perfect for St. Patrick's Day! Even though there was obviously a year when you missed it by a day. :-(
Kudos anyway. :-)

You spelled coffee wrong. XD

Other than not, it was a good write. Are you Irish?

Love the perfect combination of words related to St. Patrick's Day. XD

Thanks for sharing!

Wow! A clean peice. Nice work. I doubt that I know much about St. Patrick's day. So I cannot say anything more than this is very nice work by you. ~KA~
