The Flitter GlittersA Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt ShanksThis is a true question that I have had since I was a child. The Flitter Glitters Does anyone else notice the tiny beings that float around in the air? Actually, I can’t tell if they are surrounding me, or if they’re just out there. I never questioned their reality. I only just wondered what they were. They are always flittering around each other back and forth like a blur. Now, I am not talking about dust here. These things are alive. I see them move with precision but I’m not sure how they thrive. They are best seen while outside, illuminated by sunlight. Whenever I first saw them, I couldn’t believe my own sight. Am I describing some mystic phenomenon, my own aura in the sky, or maybe it could be the movements of the glittering cells in my own eye? M.J.S.
