Skeletons In My Closet

Skeletons In My Closet

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks
"

A little ditty that I used to sing at Beatnic's Cafe.

"

There are skeletons in my closet,

and they've been there for quite a while.

There are skeletons in my closet,

and I keep adding more to the pile.

Well, they come out and haunt me

and they come out and taunt me

and they keep trying to make me see,

that they just want to know me

and they just want to show me

that they're just another part of me.

There are skeletons in my closet,

and they've been there for quite a while.

There are skeletons in my closet,

and I keep adding more to the pile.

I didn't want to believe them.

Didn't mean to concieve them

and they just keep getting more in the way.

But if I really believe

that I 'm the one who concieved them, then

I can make them go away.

So, the skeletons in my closet,

well, they all came out and did a dance.

No more skeletons in my closet,

so now there's more room for my pants.

This is a song that I used to perform at Beatnics Cafe in Marion, IN. It is a fun little ditty with a catchy tune. People said that they would sing it later on in the week after they heard it.

Hahah i love the last paragraph the humor of it makes me smile..i love the flow of this one i could imagine what you were saying as i read it..i think your imagery is very skillful..i must say that you have me as a fan lol..we all have skeletons in the closet that we just want to lock in there and never open the door but sooner or later they are discovered by someone else and we have to face them anyway..so i guess it is best just to embrace them ourselves before someone else brings them out and we have to be embarassed..

Very catchy tune. You are a good song writer. Who did you perform for?

that's the best kind of compliment to receive-when they are singing it later..I like the truth behind your words..how much we get in our own way..we all have skeletons. Rickie Lee Jones has a great song called skeletons..haunting in it's construct..One person's tragedy is another's armageddon..and yet .."lettin' go is what's needed all along.."
