A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks

A thickened wall that I cannot climb

The mist overhead has thickened too.

The words that I need, I cannot find.

Farther they fly, the more I pursue.

Grasping at straws that have no holes,

My thirsty mouth still parched and dry.

A pantry full of empty bowls,

My hungry soul so longs to cry.

This was such a brilliant visual image of something we all here suffer through at times. The feeling is expressed so strongly. Simply loved this!

The title of this poem caught my eye and, of course, could relate. I thought this was a nice, simple, poem about something that can be so complex. My favorite line is "the pantry is full of empty bowls". Great work!
