The Combination

The Combination

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks

If a pill took away your sadness

but it also took away your 'gladness',

would the pill be worth swallowing

or would it be the pill you were following?

If we took away all our pain

it would be like taking a plant from the rain.

We use our pain to grow.

The rocks on the path help direct the flow.

When happiness, sadness, black, and white,

fear, trust, darkness, and light,

all of the below and all of the above

are combined with the now, it equals love.

If the doors are locked to your salvation,

all you need is the combination.

I agree with Carianne this is well thought out and constructed. I liked the message and the word choice and flow. Very good job.
