No Excuse 7-8

No Excuse 7-8

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks

There is no excuse for me,
And I haven't found a reason,
So as far as I can see
I am stuck in the wrong season.
Will I ever be set free
From acusations of treason?
Will I be able to be
The reality I'm seizing?

A love for haiku poetry developed during world literature studies, inspired by its power to express deep ideas in just a few syllables. The book Blue Harlequin features many of these moments, celebrating the simple beauty of life. Not to be a downer, but his could use some work. Treason seems like the wrong word and a forced rhyme. Seizing doesn't rhyme with season.
