Amusement Life

Amusement Life

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks

Back and forth,
back and forth,
I'm fine and then I'm  crazy
back and forth,
back and forth,
it's clear and then it's hazy.

Up and down
up and down,
the coaster rolls without consent.
Up and down,
up and down,
the plastic horse will not relent.

In and out
in and out,
The darkness reins, the light vacated.
In and out,
in and out,
my world again illuminated.

Round and round,
round and round,
the constant whirling making me dizzy.
Round and round,
round and round,
perpetual movement keeps me busy.

That's cool. I like how you did the different colors too.

The rhyme and time
and colors and lines
all combine
in your poem, so fine!
